Earlier this morning, we posted a link to an article about the Turkish military scrambling jets to force down a passenger plane (about 30 total passengers). Russia claims they only heard about the event through ‘news’ sources. This could get ugly.

Incredible! Turkey actually scrambled jets to force this plane to land in Ankara. Yes, this is a passenger plane. Turkey claims to have received intel that at least some of the cargo was military–being sent to aid Syria. Erdogan appears to be flexing his muscles for both Syria’s and Russia’s benefit. Surely, though, if Russia wants to ‘smuggle’ weapons or other supportive equipment into Syria, it would do by docking a ship at the port in Tartus, Syria (which the Russia navy has been using as a base).

RT reports that this apparent turn-around in public US policy comes on the heels of an Iranian cameraman’s defection. The cameraman is said to have been filming Ahmadinejad’s visit to New York when he chose to defect. The footage he gave to US operatives seems to be at the heart of the decision to cooperate with Israel.
Only time will tell whether or not any of this is true, but an Iranian incident could be the ‘surprise’ that Obama needs to clinch the election.

NATO is backing Turkey in this–all the way. MSM in the west is generally ignoring this escalating border war in favor of empty chair debates. Erdogan says he doesn’t want war, but his actions say the opposite. Big brother NATO is ready with ”all necessary plans in place to protect and to defend Turkey if necessary”.

Saudi weapons in Aleppo? Is this really a major surprise? To those who’ve been watching the news, it shouldn’t be. Saudi Arabia would love to see an end to the House of Assad, which practices a form of Shiite faith (in opposition to the Wahhabi sect of Sunni practiced by the House of Saud). In fact, you might say the conflict in Syria is a proxy war between Saudi Arabia and Iran. According to the Independent, an unnamed Saudi official is reported to have said,”Syria is Iran’s entry into the Arab world, Take down Assad and you inflict a strategic blow on Iran.”
The Saudi king has been up front about his support for the rebels. It wasn’t all that long ago that King Abdullah headed up a fundraising effort to aid the Syrian refugees. Some million or so Syrians currently live in Saudi Arabia, and the king has offered infinitely renewable visas to Syrians who visit.
Of course, there is also the rumor that the Saudi king would like nothing more than to expand his kingdom a bit further north–but that’s a conspiracy theory, right?

WARNING: This is a very graphic video. We post the link here so that you can see for yourselves that Gaddafi was indeed alive when he was discovered inside the sewer drain. Note that the men who took him out keep shouting ‘God is Great’ and ‘Don’t kill him!’. Images such as these do not represent the best of mankind, do they? — PID
/SNIP/ The shock discovery of the former dictator, found cowering in a water drain on Thursday in his hometown of Sirte, was captured by Ali Algadi, a rebel fighter, with an iPhone just seconds after Gaddafi was dragged from the drain in which he was hiding. This is the earliest footage to emerge so far.

It looks like Dennis Kucinich and his fellow congressmen will have to sit back and relax while this administration (and future admins) participate in whatever ‘kinetic action’ (translation: war) best suits their needs at the moment. Thanks, Judge Walton. — PID
