October surprise: US and Israel prepare to strike Iran | RT Comments Off

Posted on October 09, 2012 by Sharon K. Gilbert

RT reports that this apparent turn-around in public US policy comes on the heels of an Iranian cameraman’s defection. The cameraman is said to have been filming Ahmadinejad’s visit to New York when he chose to defect. The footage he gave to US operatives seems to be at the heart of the decision to cooperate with Israel.

Only time will tell whether or not any of this is true, but an Iranian incident could be the ‘surprise’ that Obama needs to clinch the election.

Good grief! Does the administration think voters are that gullible? And how does it make them look if all they’re asking for is a ‘postponement’? Sheesh.

Killing of captured Iranians to begin in 48 hours, Syrian brigade warns Comments Off

Posted on October 05, 2012 by Sharon K. Gilbert

The proxy war taking place in Syria is heating up. The FSA (Free Syrian Army) is holding 48 Iranians (possibly Quds soldiers that Iran insists are pilgrims). At this point, it’s unlikely that Turkey will try to intervene. Saudi Arabia (a Sunni state) stands to gain if Syria falls, so the King is also unlikely to offer assistance, and Qatar may also remain silent.

The Assad regime and the Iranian government have signed treaties to help each other if either is attacked, but there is also a close relationship between the two countries due to the Assad family’s particular branch of Islam, a cadet ‘Alawi’ offshoot of the Shiite belief in the Twelfth Imam, otherwise known as Mahdi. Most of the region is Sunni, including Turkey. The FSA consists of Sunni Muslims with more in common with Erdogan than Assad.

The FSA receives its orders from within Turkey through Turkish commanders as well as FSA General Rial al-Assad, who until recently worked from Turkey, due to assassination threats at home, but is now said to be working from so-called ‘liberated’ areas of Syria. According to some experts, it is Turkey’s ultimate plan to assist the FSA in further liberation of border regions. PM Erdogan might see the FSA as a means to gain the upper hand in Syria, where PKK Kurdish factions have been given a de facto safe haven in Syria’s northeast (a constant thorn in Turkey’s side).

The FSA also includes a high concentration of ‘foreign soldiers’, some from Iraq and Libya, others from as far away as Croatia and Bosnia. Some experts also place American mercenaries within the FSA, which is entirely probable as the Syrian situation appears to be a repeat of the so-called ‘Arab Spring’ interventions orchestrated by the current administration–the ‘responsibility to protect’ program funded by multi-billionaire George Soros.

The Syrian situation brings to mind the Burden of Damascus in Isaiah 17. The Lord has promised that the city of Damascus will one day cease to be inhabited, that it will become a ‘ruinous heap’. Keep your eyes on Syria. The Lord’s hand is at work there. But while you’re watching, pray–pray for the innocent civilians who want only to live in peace. Pray for the missionaries there, who seek daily to serve Christ and witness to salvation through His blood.

Iran’s currency plunges 40 percent, riot police called out – CSMonitor.com Comments Off

Posted on October 04, 2012 by Sharon K. Gilbert

Ahmadinejad probably wasn’t expecting major rioting upon his return to Iran following his recent speech to the UN General Assembly in New York. Though it’s easy to blame the rial’s nosedive on sanctions, could it also be currency manipulation meant to further undermine the faltering Iranian economy? Stressing the Iranians may have the opposite from any intended effect. A rat cornered comes out biting. Careful, careful.

US warships box in Iranian flotilla, delay Suez passage Comments Off

Posted on February 21, 2011 by Sharon K. Gilbert

(DEBKAfile) — The repeated delays and contradictory statements about the two Iranian warships’ transit of the Suez Canal to the Mediterranean is accounted for by a standoff between the Iranian flotilla and five US warships deployed in recent days at the waterway’s southern entrance and along its course, DEBKAfile’s sources disclose.
